The Department of Anthropology at the University of Utah has been a critical CPAA partner since our inception in 2005. Not only do university students get valuable field experience, but many of these students have gone on to stellar careers in Cultural Resource Management and academia where they represent the next generation of archaeologists tasked with protecting the past. Today, the University is a reliable pipeline for students seeking on-the-ground training in field techniques as part of the Bull Creek Site Re-Identification Project. CPAA executive director Jerry D. Spangler is adjunct faculty at the university and will direct university field schools at Bull Creek in the fall of 2026 and spring of 2027.
